COVID taught me who I truly am!
Lockdown two thousand twenty. It's somewhat mindboggling how the epidemic took over our lives and made drastic changes over the span of two odd years. It truly has been a rollercoaster. But finally, the wait was over. After the release of covid vaccine by the Indian government the fall in covid cases has been a breather for everyone, especially students like me who have won back their privilege to socialize and seize real life again. I'm Arnav Ghai, a 9th grader from St. Stephen's school, new Chandigarh and with this article I would like to share some of my experiences from the lockdown, what changes it made and how I'm dealing with it. Online schools have had their own pros and cons but most importantly home schooling has shaped me into a completely different person, perhaps a sharper one. The Zoomers (More commonly known as generation z or children born between 1990's to 2012) are considered to be one of the smartest generations where almost everyone is a skilled technophile. First hearing about the lockdown I thought it was small eight week break from school but little did my past self knew that the short vacation will turn into a much longer one lasting two years instead of two months! Attending online school was quite exciting of an experience overall. When I say 'all' I mean everyone, even the parents who got to sneak a peek Or two! Students & teachers got to explore a whole entire side of education apart from the traditional methods of learning and students gained newfound confidence. Here's how it went for me. It started out well but staring at your computer screen attending classes and solving worksheets five hours a day, was getting monotonous and boring. I was missing out on thrill, That was when I decided to hobby hunt to find things that made me happy or just kept me distracted. It was when I got to know that there are no limits to things you can do to spend a productive day. I would do a variety of things ranging from bicycling, video chatting my friends, working on calligraphy, playing with my dog, spending time with my family to practicing asanas and working on my upcoming book. Yes I have been a part time author too. Each day that passed by I learned something new and made sure that every moment was utilized to the core. I think I used this time I got, very efficiently making each day a productive one. Now that our lives are getting back to the one we had pre-covid, I'm still cherishing and will in the future, those happy memories, that we made. I think after this epidemic I'm another version of myself, a disciplined, organized and hardworking one. During this period I gathered enough time to read extra books and also master my skills! The lockdown has taught us multiple lessons one is that you should appreciate every little thing in life. We will probably never get this time again where we spent time with our families. It has been a blessing for me and I'm happy that happened. During this period I found myself, who I truly am.
